I had the honour of meeting and chatting with Joe Strummer, and what a thoroughly nice chap he was. How often do you get the chance to meet and spend some time with one of your idols?
I managed to do this twice! It's great to see a bunch of megastars paying tribute to this legend, and I think they managed to pay him a fitting musical tribute... Enjoy Elvis Costello, Little Steven, Dave Grohl and Bruce Springsteen sending him off in a very fitting way...
God speed Joe!

Do you want to enlighten me on who this person is?
yeah, look up "bands who werent the sex pistols but wished they were"
:P
*COUGH!* BJ! shame on you! I love the Sex Pistols, but at the end of the day, they were a one trick pony! the Clash however, adapted after punk had blown itself out. They were true musicians who could turn their hands to punk, rock, reggae, soul and funk! They survived until the mid eighties, whereas the Sex Pistols had imploded within two years! And their politics were far more enduring, unlike the Pistols who degenerated from 'Anarchy In The UK' to 'Belsen Was A Gas' and having Ronnie Biggs as the lead singer...
clash fans are also famous for not having much of a sense of humor :P
And the mescaleros were so f*cking fantastic too. It's such a shame so wonderful people die when a variety of dangerous inhuman pricks live into their deep 90s. So, uhm, how's Ms. Thatcher doing?
