Star Trek or Wolverine?

Well, it's my birthday on Saturday, I'll be 42. Normally, that would be celebrated with copious amounts of booze, but as you all know this year will be different. Instead I'll be taking a very non-alcoholic trip to the cinema, where the only drink I'll imbibe wil be a giant diet pepsi, to wash down the nachos, cheese and chillis!

But here's the dilemma... Star Trek or Wolverine? I'm a long time fan of both franchises. I don't get to the cinema that often and I don't want to miss either. I've been a Trekkie since I was a kid, but I also read X Men comics as a kid and I've loved the three X Men movies so far... Plus I'm massively intrigued by Wolverine's back-story...

At the moment I'm swinging toward Star Trek, however, as I'm excited by it's reinvention and I love anything with Simon Pegg (Scotty) in it... I'll let you know where I ended up!

Well, according to the great Mark Kermode, Star Trek would be the correct choice! And of course happy birthday my friend! Apparently I'll join you in not drinking alcohol soon...

I haven't seen either yet, but from what I've heard, Wolverine is disappointing, while Star Trek is fantastic.

Cheers dear Gnome! We have to think up a Baldrick style 'cunning plan' to spring you from your military incarceration... I'll distract the guards by posing as a sexy lady (It always seems to work for Bugs Bunny...) and you sneak out the back door. Then, if any of the guards become zombies, I can kill 'em. I've had loads of practise. We'll meet up outside the Kosovan embassy in Prague. Then we'll decide what the next course of action!

Wolverine disappointing Junlee? Hmmm... maybe that will be bought as a blag DVD tonight then...

I HAVE seen both and enjoyed them in equal measure. I didnt find wolverine in the slightest bit disappointing I have to say.

Or -my dear Father- we can do nothing at all and wait for my beheading; then escape like a chicken! Hmmm... no... Kosovan embassy it is then...

I was so excited when I found out about the cast in Star Trek.

Not a huge fan of the TV series or movies but I actually read a bunch of short stories in high school that were set in the Star Trek universe.

I really gotta check out the movie.

are you going to tell us WHAT you did??

Yeah sorry about that!!! Wolverine we bought on blag DVD - it was fucking awful quality - the SFX hadn't even been finished, so people were on wires in fight scenes!!! The worst experience of piracy EVER!!!

We saw Star Trek at the pics! Wonderful!!! From the moment you see James Tiberius Kirk thundering across the desert to 'Sabotage' by the Beastie Boys to the closing credits, it was a winner!

I'm also not sure about Spock and Uhuru getting it on. And she is not as fit as the original Uhuru either, LOL!

what you purchased was the work print (think final beta to make sure it runs ok) This was all over torrent sites so you could have saved yourself some money :P

It was blatantly leaked by the studio to gauge public reaction

ps here is a link to my finland holiday on facebook
